Yad Vashem is a physically beautiful place with lots of ugly and sad stories to tell. Benches are important there to allow visitors places to sit, rest, and contemplate the horrors of the Holocaust and to gather one's emotions and thoughts as well.
And I think this is the only place with shade, which is so welcome on these hot days.
